Mobile Invoice on the Pocket PC
Does MobileInvoice work on the Windows Phone 7, iPhone or Android? MobileInvoice works only on Windows Mobile 5.x and 6.x Smartphones and pocket pcs. It does not run on Windows 7 phones, the iPhone, or Android. I just purchased Mobile Invoice and my registration code doesn't work. In order for the registration code to be accepted, the Pocket PC Owner Name you supplied during your purchase must match the Registered Owner Name received with your registration code. Here are step-by-step instructions for setting your Owner Name and entering the registration code: 1) Exit Mobile Invoice if you already have it running by tapping Tools > Exit from the Invoice Register. 2) Tap the Start > Settings > Personal tab. Tap the Owner Information icon. Fill in the name field with your Registration Name and tap the Ok button. Note that the name is cAsE SeNsItIve and must appear exactly as shown. 3) Start Mobile Invoice and tap the Register button. If you don't see the Register button, tap Tools > About and you should see the Register button in the About dialog. 4) Verify that your Registration User Name appears in the Owner Name field. Enter your registration code and tap Ok in the upper righthand side of the dialog. You should now see the Thank you dialog. If the registration code is still not accepted, check that the product installed is the same application for which the registration code was purchased. For example, if you purchased the Standard Edition registration code, but you have the QuickBooks Edition installed, the registration code will not be accepted. I reinstalled Mobile Invoice and now my registration code doesn't work. If you purchased a previous major release version of Mobile Invoice and have downloaded and installed a newer one, an upgrade is required. For example, if you purchased version an earlier version of MobileInvice (e.g. 4.x) nd downloaded the newer version (e.g. 5.x) you will need to purchase an upgrade from the Purchase Page. I lost my registration code. Can you give it to me again? Yes, please fill out the Lost Registration Code Form, and your original registration code will be emailed to you. Is Windows 7 supported? Is Windows Vista supported? Yes. Yes. I am trying to install Mobile Invoice on a Windows Vista machine and it says that ActiveSync is required.ActiveSync on Windows Vista has been replaced with the Mobile Device Center.
If your installation does not already have this installed, you can download it free from Microsoft at: I have Windows Vista and Mobile Invoice says QuickBooks isn't running when it is. In order for Mobile Invoice to connect to QuickBooks running on a Windows Vista machine:

To fix the script error you are recieving on your desktop, please do the following on your desktop computer: 1) Close MobileInvoice. 2) Click Start > Programs > MobileInvoice QuickBooks Edition 3) Right Click on Repair and select Run As Administrator (you may see a box appear and disappear quickly) Now Start MobileInvoice again and the error should no longer appear. Which printers do you recommend? There are a variety of printers that work great with Mobile Invoice. Before making a decision, we recommend you start by checking the type of interface your Pocket PC supports. There are 3 main types: Infrared (IrDa), BlueTooth, and Wireless (Wi-Fi). Most Pocket PCs sold today have IrDa, as do portable printers. BlueTooth is appearing on many Pocket PCs now and is an option for most printers. Wi-Fi is less common and takes a bit more knowledge to set up. The next thing to consider is the paper type and size you plan to print to. There are two paper types: regular and thermal. Thermal is normally found in rolls and doesn't require that your printer use ink cartridges. Standard has a nicer feel, is cheaper, and is usually found on larger printers. The size of the paper often determines the size of the printer. For example, if you want a lightweight portable printer that hangs on your belt, you will be limited to a 2, 3, or 4 inch printer. For more information on printers, please see the Printers Page. What's the difference between Mobile Invoice Standard and the Mobile Invoice QuickBooks® Edition? Mobile Invoice Standard is a standalone application that runs on the Pocket PC. It is all you need to capture signatures, create and print invoices, estimates and sales receipts. The QuickBooks® edition consists of a Pocket PC program that works just like the Standard version, but it can communicate with a companion program that runs on your desktop. This desktop program allows you to download your QuickBooks® lists to the Pocket PC and upload your invoices. In addition, you can download jobs complete with details. The desktop program eliminates the need to enter your invoices into QuickBooks, saving time and money. How do I apply discounts? You can apply discounts in a variety of ways. Discounts can be for a fixed amount (e.g. $10.00) or a percentage (e.g. 10%). To apply a discount to a single line item, add a Discount type line item after the item you want to discount by tapping and holding on the next line, select Insert Line Item, and add a discount. To discount an entire invoice, first add a Subtotal item by tapping Edit > Add Line Item, and then add a discount item. You can create new discount items by tapping New > Line Item in the Items Dialog and setting the type to Discount. QuickBooks Edition users can download their Discount items using the Update Lists command from the desktop application. I don't use Sales Tax, how can I remove Sales Taxes from my invoices? If you do not wish to have Sales Taxes appear or be calculated, you can turn this feature off. From any document, tap the Tools > Options > Other tab and set Use Sales Tax to No. I have a wireless subscription and my connection is poor or keeps dropping. Try setting your WiFi signal to Best Performance instead of the default best battery. Tap Start > Settings> Connections > Wireless LAN > Power Mode > Best Performance. WiFi in best battery mode is not very reliable. Note that not all devices will remain in the Best Performance mode. What version of QuickBooks® will I need for the QuickBooks® edition? MobileInvoice, QuickBooks® Edition works with US, Canadian, UK, and Australian versions of QuickBooks®. The following versions are supported:
Can I use more than one Pocket PC with the Mobile Invoice QuickBooks® edition? Absolutely. You can use as many Pocket PCs as you want as long as you have purchased a license for each Pocket PC. When you run the Desktop application, you will see the owner name for the connected Pocket PC displayed in the status bar. You can then assign appropriate jobs to the Pocket PC and send it out in the field with the appropriate service person. At the end of the day, connect the Pocket PC and upload the completed invoices and estimates directly into QuickBooks®. What kinds of devices does MobileInvoice work on, or will it work on my device? To change the starting invoice numbers on the Pocket PC, tap Tools > Options > Numbers tab. Set the starting number for each of the document types. The next new document will use the number you entered and be automatically incremented for future documents. By default, these numbers will appear in QuickBooks. Now check the box "Allow QuickBooks to automatically number documents". Note that you may start document numbers with alphabetic characters. For example, "MyPPC100" is a valid document number. Mobile Invoice will now use the new settings. How can I copy my Items List from one Pocket PC to another? The Items and Other Lists can be copied to another Pocket PC by copying the file LFSDatabase.db from one Pocket PC to another. This file is stored in the \My Device\Program Files\LowFatSoftware\MobileInvoice\Database directory on your Pocket PC by default. You can copy it using ActiveSync Explorer, or by beaming the file. Either way, when you copy it, make sure that you have exited Mobile Invoice on both of the Pocket PCs before copying the file. You cannot copy the database file from a 2003 Pocket PC to a 2002 Pocket PC because the formats have changed.
